Nick is completely terrible at laundry. Monroe observes this himself when he catches Nick dumping half a box of laundry soap into the washer, followed by every article of clothing he owns. “How did you ever survive on your own?” Nick just smiles.

Nick is really good at stuff Monroe hates though, like cleaning the eavestrough and the really intense manual labor he doesn’t want to do in case he ruins his hands for clocks and cello.

The sweaty wife-beater is certainly a plus

Monroe owns one of those old push mowers, the kind that you see rusted and abandoned on the curbside as the homeowner pushes his new self-propelled machine swiftly across his grass and smiling smugly as his brand new toy bags the grass for him. Nick hates all those people, barely breaking a sweat, while he has to rest his hands on his knees and try to catch his breath. He’s only halfway done and he’s going to kill Monroe.

Speaking of, he looks up to see Monroe sitting at his desk in front of the window, working on his latest commission. When he looks up at Nick, he smiles, glasses low on his nose and screwdriver paused over the mechanism of a mantel-clock. Nick gathers enough strength to flip him off and Monroe frowns, motioning at the lawn, as if to tell Nick it won’t mow itself.

They are going to the hardware store tomorrow, Nick decides as he wearily picks the mower up again. This is bullshit.

MARY! LOOK WHAT I FOUND! LEFT SIDE! AHHHH!!!

And now I want an Old West AU. Nick is the Sheriff, and Monroe is the reclusive watch-maker. And the Reapers are a gang of outlaws. Or something.
