i loved this movie, damn it.
true love’s kiss is supposed to awaken her, but i don’t think they were in love. they loved each other, but not romantically or in a sexual manner. they could trust each other, and more, they evoked goodness in the other. he made her feel safe and she gave him a reason to care. that kiss was symbolic of his wife, of their friendship and their trust, and his feeling as though he failed her. it wasn’t a “damn, she’s the girl that got away” thing. it’s a “she was something i cared about, and i lost her” kind of thing.

My nephew and I keep having shouting matches over this too. I keep trying to tell them the movie wasn’t about the romance and he keeps screaming, “SHE CHOSE THE HUNTSMAN, GET OVER IT. THAT’S THE NAME OF THE MOVIE.”
